OVERWATCH'S New Hero Is A Cute Rodent

Image
After several teases from Overwatch’s official Twitter account, the latest hero in the game is finally revealed. Players assumed that the new champion will be Hammond after several clues through posters and the wrecking ball from Blizzard’s second teaser came to light. Now, Overwatch just released the final teaser and we get to see hero 28, which is a cute chubby hamster that no one could have anticipated.  The champion revealed. pic.twitter.com/0Fdpg2iBcs — Overwatch (@PlayOverwatch) June 28, 2018 Although Overwatch didn’t confirm the latest hero’s identity, it is likely that this hamster is indeed Hammond, the missing specimen from Horizon Lunar Colony. The colony was a scientific experiment that intends to evolve gorillas into super smart scientists. Players will be familiar with Winston, the most famous result of the program funded by Lucheng Interstellar.  In an unfortunate turn of events, a riot occurred that led to the subjects going rogue and was able to successfully l

Netflix Orders a Supernatural Martial Arts Crime Drama Called WU ASSASSINS with Iko Uwais!

Image
Netflix has ordered an exciting new series called Wu Assassins which is a supernatural martial arts crime drama that will star Iko Uwais ( The Raid ). The series comes from Tony Krantz  ( 24 ),  John Wirth  ( Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles; Falling Skies ) and Nomadic Pictures ( Fargo, Hell on Wheels ). That's a solid team of talent right there.  Wu Assassins,  set in San Francisco’s Chinatown, is a martial arts crime series with supernatural elements. It stars Uwais as Kai Jin, who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Byron Mann ( The Expanse ) co-stars in the series and plays a character named Uncle Six. Wirth wrote the series and he also serves as showrunner. Steven Fung will direct the first two episodes, with Krantz expected to helm another. Uwais also will serve as producer, as well as lead the martial arts and fight choreographer and stunt coordinator. This seems like it h

A Group of Teens Set Out To Catch a Serial Killer in New Trailer For SUMMER OF '84

Image
A serial killer is on the loose in this new trailer for Summer of '84 , and a group of teens in the 80s take it upon themselves to catch the killer, who they believe is their next door neighbor. Here's the full synopsis: Every serial killer is somebody’s neighbor. For 15-year-old Davey, the thought of having a serial killer in his suburban town is a scary yet exciting prospect at the start of a lazy summer. In hormonal overdrive, Davey and his friends dream of sexual conquests until the news reports of the Cape May killer. Davey convinces his friends that they must investigate, and they uncover that his next-door neighbor, an unassuming, single police officer, could be the prime suspect. Could Davey possibly be right, or is it his overactive imagination? This seems like it has all the right ingredients for a film that a lot of geeks who are obsessed with the 80s might enjoy. It' tapping into that radcore nostalgia that we've all enjoyed since the popularity of Strang

Kevin Feige Will NOT Be Replacing Kathleen Kennedy as Lucasfilm President

Image
A few weeks ago a rumor surfaced surrounding Kathleen Kennedy possibly stepping down as Lucasfilm president. Not long after that,  Deadline  mentioned some additional rumors that Kevin Feige would be the new president of Lucasfilm. They noted that the speculation was "roundly denied", but there's still a lot of talk about Feige possibly taking over for Lucasfilm. It doesn't really make sense for Feige to do that, though, because he's already got a huge franchise that he's heading up that he loves. Why in the world would he want to take his attention away from Marvel to head up everything that Lucasfilm has got going on, like the Star Wars franchise? According to /Film , Kennedy has no plans of stepping down as Lucasfilm president anytime soon and they asked Kevin Feige about the rumors of him taking over and if there was any truth to them. This was his reply: "No. Only in my backyard with my action figures." So for those of you who were hopin

A New Post-Game Outfit For SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY Revealed

Image
Yesterday, Nintendo revealed on Twitter that players who were able to complete the primary campaign in Super Mario Odyssey will be rewarded with a new and free post-game outfit. Players can just head to the shop for Mario to access the Range Hat & Rango Suit. The latest outfit is the same exact suit worn by the Broodal miniboss Rango in Odyssey. For those of you who can’t remember, he is the tall fellow wearing suspenders and spiked bracelets. This will not be the first time a Broodal outfit becomes available in Super Mario Odyssey . Last April, players are treated with the Broodal Topper’s sharp green suit and top hat. Moreover, it seems that more Broodal costumes are on the way to the game as revealed in an update last February.  Super Mario Odyssey is now available for the Nintendo Switch. How AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Should Have Ended

Image
I've been waiting to see how the team at How It Should Have Ended would handle the ending to Avengers: Infinity War and now it's here! They went all out on this new animated video, which clocks in at over 11-minutes. But, it's worth the watch and as you'd imagine, it's very funny and entertaining. The video actually offers several alternate endings are plausible and at the same time it points out some plot holes in the film. The video ends with the entire team sitting in a coffee shop with Batman and Superman poking fun at each other and all of the traumatic major events that they've gone through. Then all of a sudden Thor, who is wearing the gauntlet snaps his fingers, and you'll just have to watch the video to see what happens. from GeekTyrant – Geek Movie and Entertainment News https://ift.tt/2tEBQAH

Mark Hamill and Chris Evans Comment on if a Lightsaber Could Cut Captain America's Shield

Image
A dad recently posted online that his son asked him if a lightsaber could cut through Captain America’s shield. The dad had no idea, hence the online post. Well, Mark Hamill and Chris Evans have both stepped up to comment on the question of the ages. While the shield is made of the fictional (and near indestructible) vibranium, both celebrities agree that a lightsaber would cut through it (although Hamill does point out it depends on which universe they're in). However, Evans points out that he then has multiple projectiles to throw at a Force user. Of course, logic dictates that the Force user could use the Force to win, but that’s another discussion for another time. In the #MarvelUniverse - NO In the #StarWarsUniverse - Luke wouldn't fight a hero, but if asked to do so, he could cut it into a million little pieces. https://t.co/9fHurwhBNl — Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) June 27, 2018 Foolish. Now I have vibranium ninja stars. https://t.co/V7ANPJW5wH — Chris Evans

The NES Classic Is Back In Stores, Although It Might Be Gone Before You Finish Reading This

Image
A new shipment of NES Classics have arrived in stores today, although it appears they're headed right back on out as consumers and scalpers alike are scrambling to get their hands on them. In fact, I checked about fifteen minutes after the Amazon listing was live, and their entire online stock was already claimed. If you live in a smaller town or act fast, you may still have a shot at grabbing one at Walmart or Target (via The Verge ), BUT ACT FAST. Anyone who waits until tomorrow and then takes to social media to gripe has no one to blame but themselves this time around.  from GeekTyrant – Geek Movie and Entertainment News https://ift.tt/2lH5lgT

Here's a More Detailed Look at Captain America's New Costume and Style in AVENGERS 4

Image
Some more promo art has been shared for Avengers 4 , and this time it gives us a more detailed look at Captain America's costume and style. As you can see below, he's got a brand new clean suit with scale armor look. He's also got a nice haircut again and he's shaved off the beard. The one thing he's missing is the helmet. But overall, I like the new look!  You can see some additional promo art that was shared yesterday that included Captain Marvel, Nick Fury, Hulk, Hawkeye, Nebula, Rocket Raccoon, and War Machine. A lot of people thought that Captain America was going to die at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War . But he didn't! He lived! Now, of course, fans think that he's definitely going to die in Avengers 4 , but at this point, who knows what's going to happen. He might die, he might live, we'll just have to wait and see what Marvel has in store for him when the movie is released on May 3rd, 2019. More HD Leaks And Promo Arts O

The First Film in Lucasfilm's New STAR WARS Trilogy From Rian Johnson Could Come in 2020

Image
Regardless of what some fans thought of Star Wars: The Last Jedi , Lucasfilm obviously had a good experience working with Rian Johnson on the film because they gave him a blank canvas to create his own original Star Wars trilogy. He didn't even have to pitch them an idea. We have no idea what to expect from it other than the fact it will be completely different from anything in the saga and that it will take place in another corner of the Star Wars universe and feature all new characters. The director has also said that his vision of the movie will "capture the spirit" of George Lucas ' original films. Some new information has come to light from Johnson's producing partner Ram Bergman. In an interview with the Israeli website From The Grapevine , Bergman reiterated:  "It’s a completely new trilogy that writer-director Rian Johnson, my partner, is going to create. It’s all new characters. Everything is new." He then went on to say that we could

This New VOLTRON LEGO Set is Awesome!

Image
If you were a kid in the 1980’s, late 1990’s, or anyone with a Netflix subscription now, you know about Voltron. The mecha formed from 5 giant robotic lions to save the universe. Now, you can make your own Voltron from LEGOs and it looks awesome! The best part? You build the lions and then they can be combined like in the show to form Voltron. A sword and shield are included, so Voltron can battle the forces of evil from the box. The piece count is 2,321 and when combined, Voltron stands at a mighty 15 inches. The catch? It’s fairly expensive and it’s only on preorder right now. You can preorder it over at the LEGO store right now though for $179.99. So, are you excited to build this? Will you keep it on your shelf as Voltron or the 5 lions? from GeekTyrant – Geek Movie and Entertainment News https://ift.tt/2MxPRHp

The Remake of Stephen King's FIRESTARTER Finds a Director

Image
Universal Pictures is moving forward with their remake of Stephen King 's classic story Firestarter as they just hired a director. This is one of the few Stephen King books that I never read, but I did see the 1984 Drew Barrymore film, which wasn't the best adaptation of a King novel, but it was still good. It's not hard to believe that a remake could end up being a better adaptation, but we'll just have to wait and see. Variety  is reporting that Fatih Akin  will direct the film that is being produced by Akiva Goldsman  and Blumhouse Productions. I'm not really that familiar with the film work of Akin but some of his movies include In The Fade, The Cut, and a bunch of other films. Scott Teems ( Rectify )   will adapt the script. For those of you who aren't familiar with the story, it follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon. After Stephen Ki

Rian Johnson Defends THE LAST JEDI Yet Again with Help From The Original Trilogy

Image
I don’t know if it’s just because The Last Jedi is on Netflix now or what, but people are back to attacking the movie. I thought that this had ended and we had all agreed that some liked the movie and others didn’t, but apparently I was wrong. One user on Twitter posted part of what appears to be a newspaper or magazine article where George Lucas says he doesn’t want to kill or have anything bad happen to anyone in the Star Wars franchise, but especially Luke, and tagged Last Jedi director Rian Johnson . Johnson has used Star Wars canon to defend some of his choices for the film in the past and he does it again here. Kevin Feige Confirms DOCTOR STRANGE 2 While Explaining Marvel's Approach To Mixing Solo Films and Sequels

Image
Marvel Studios has big plans for the MCU after Avengers 4 . We don't know what the full slate will look like but we know that it will be filled with solo films featuring new characters and sequels. While talking to CinemaBlend , Kevin Feige discussed how the studio will mix up the releases of the new solo films and the sequels in Phase 4. As he is explaining this, he pretty much confirms that there's a Doctor Strange sequel coming. Before we get to that Doctor Strange news though, Feige says: "It's one of the reasons we've expanded to three films a year, is so that we could do the sequels to films that people have responded to -- because we love to make continuing stories with characters people have responded to -- but also keep doing the stuff that nobody's ever heard of, and people go, 'Why are you doing that?' That's fun. And that's what Phase One was built on, Phase Two was built on, Phase Three was built on, is having that... Whenever

First Poster For M. Night Shyamalan's GLASS and The Film Will Have a Comic-Con Panel

Image
Director M. Night Shyamalan has shared the first poster for his highly anticipated film Glass , which is the third film in a trilogy that began with Unbreakable and continued with Split . The filmmaker also revealed that he will be bringing Glass to San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H on July 20th. He'll be bringing the cast of the film with him and he says fans can expect a surprise. I imagine that surprise will be the premiere of the trailer that will be released.  I already saw some footage of the film at CinemaCon a few months ago and it was pretty damn awesome! The movie is going in a direction that I wasn't expecting. When talking about the film, the director said: "In Spilt, I created the origin story for an anarchist that could be good or could be bad. The worlds of Unbreakable  and Split  finally collide in Glass . What if these real-life superheroes and supervillains are somehow locked up together? What could go wrong?" He went on to say: “Eighteen year

INDIANA JONES 5 Has Been Delayed

Image
Just yesterday we learned that Solo co-writer Jonathan Kasdan would be working on the script for Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford 's Indiana Jones 5 . Now, Variety is reporting that the movie has been delayed and it won't make the previously set July 10th, 2020 release date. Filming was supposed to begin in April of 2019 in the UK, but sources close to the production say that "shooting will no longer start next spring and will have to be pushed back by months, if not a year. Potential crew members have already been informed of the delay." In case you're wondering why the film is being delayed, the report says, "part of the issue is that the key members of the creative team have yet to sign off on a finished script." They go on to say that Kasdan's deal to work on the script still hasn't closed.  Insiders stress that both Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford remain committed to the film project. I guess we might just have to wait until 202

Rebecca Ferguson To Join Ewan McGregor in THE SHINING Sequel DOCTOR SLEEP

Image
Rebecca Ferguson ( Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation ) is in negotiations to join Ewan McGregor in Warner Bros. adaptation of the Stephen King novel Doctor Sleep , which is the sequel to the horror classic The Shining . McGregor is set to play the adult version of Danny Torrance, which is a perfect casting choice. There's no word on who Ferguson is playing, but there's a chance that she could be playing the character Lucy Stone, Danny Torrance's younger half-sister. Lucy was a product of an affair between Jack and Sandy, while Jack was teaching. After her mother died in a car accident, she was raised by her grandmother. Later in life she married David and gave birth to their only daughter, Abra, who is a more powerful psychic than her uncle Dan. It would make sense to see Ferguson take on this role, but there may be another character that she will be playing.  The Shining  centers on Jack Torrance, his wife Wendy, and their son Danny as they live in the haunted Over

The First Clip For THE VENTURE BROS. Season 7 Features The Team Conjuring a Demon

Image
"Yo, Demon! No mammas!" Adult Swim has released the first clip for the long-awaited seventh season of The Venture Bros. ! I hate that it takes so damn long to get new seasons of this show, but at least it's coming. And judging by this clip it looks like the return of the series will be well worth the wait.  As you'll see in the clip, it looks like the gang got themselves into some kind of situation involving a mystical seance. The purpose of it is to conjure a demon so that they can do battle with it! I can't wait to see what other adventures are in store for the characters next season! The Venture Bros. is Adult Swim's fan-favorite parody of the great action/adventure cartoons of yesteryear. Tune in to watch Dr. "Rusty" Venture and his twin boys, Hank and Dean, as they clash against arch-enemies, killer mutants, invading aliens and more. Joining them is a massive pantheon of incredible characters like Brock Samson, Dr. Orpheus, The Monarch, Sgt

X-FORCE Director Drew Goddard On How He Will Handle The Film's Characters and Humor

Image
Director Drew Goddard  ( Cabin in the Woods ) is hard at work on developing his X-Force film that will bring together Deadpool, Cable, Domino, and a few other heroes to save the world from some kind of evil villain.  We thought that team would consist of Bedlam, Shatterstar, The Vanisher, and  Zeitgeist but they were all hilariously killed off in Deadpool 2 . I have no idea who the new team will entail, but I imagine Firefist, Colossus, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead might be a part of it. When previously talking about what happened in Deadpool 2, Goddard said he was completely on board with it: "One thing I said to Ryan was, ‘Don’t worry about it, we’ll come up with new ideas; you guys go make your movie, and do your thing. We’ll figure it out.' That tends to be the way I like to work. It’s much more important to focus on making the movie that you’re making than focusing on the next thing. It’s much more important to just make one good movie and take your time, then let th

New Trailer for THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS THE MOVIE: PRISONERS OF THE SKY

There's Something Sinister in The Woods in This Creepy Trailer For DEAD NIGHT

Image
"I was born and raised in these woods… I'll be just fine."  Yeah... right. We all know what happens when people think the woods is a good place to go on a relaxing vacation. Dark and sinister things happen and people die! That's the truth because it happens in every horror movie that is set in the woods! We've got a creepy trailer for an upcoming horror film called Dead Night , and it actually looks like it's worth checking out. But that's coming from a guy who loves watching horror movies, even the bad ones. I like what I'm seeing in this trailer, though, it looks like it going to be a wildly eerie horror flick with some surprising twists and turns. The movie stars Brea Grant ( Heroes ) and 80's horror icon Barbara Crampton  ( Re-Animator, You're Next, From Beyond ) and this is the synopsis: James and his wife Casey load up their two teenage kids and head out to a remote cabin in Oregon for a weekend trip. When James heads into the snowy

Doctor Strange Director Laments Snowpiercer TV Pilot Reshoots

Image
Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has expressed regret over the "extreme reshoots" on TNT's Snowpiercer pilot that he originally helmed. Months after former showrunner Josh Friedman exited the show due to “creative differences”, Derrickson also finds himself at odds with the network’s vision. Derrickson’s issue with the network is the planned reshoots for the pilot. TNT’s Snowpiercer is a continuation of the 2013 film of the same name, directed by Bong Joon Ho. The film was based off French comic book, Le Transperceneige . Snowpiercer takes place in a future where an attempt at reversing global warming goes horribly wrong. Earth has entered an ice age where most forms of life have gone extinct. What’s left of humanity survives on the Snowpiercer , a massive train circumnavigating the globe, thanks to its perpetual motion engine. As if possible global extinction wasn’t bad enough, the characters also contend with class inequality. A group of rebels, living i

Kevin Smith Wasn't Invited to Bruce Willis Roast & His Reaction is Priceless

Image
Kevin Smith did not receive an invitation to attend the upcoming roast of Bruce Willis. Many expected the director - who openly discussed his unfavorable experience working with Willis - to be a part of the event. Smith has replied in his typical sarcastic fashion. According to Smith, before the director worked with Willis on  Cop Out in 2010, Smith had been a huge fan of the action star. But his experience working with Willis was famously negative. Smith first tried not to call out Willis by name, merely hinting that one of the actors in the film " wouldn't even sit" for a photo shoot while implying that the troublesome actor was not   Tracey Morgan. Smith was later quoted warning fans not to meet their heroes. This incident made Smith a prime candidate for the roast in many's eyes. The bad blood coupled with Smith's comedic abilities seemed like a lock. Well, not so much. Related: Kevin Smith Invites Stan Lee to Come Live With Him Smith did not receive an

9 Remakes Currently In Development (And 11 That Are Rumored)

Image
Nothing gets geek movie audiences anticipating and debating quite the way that remakes do. Beloved properties from every era of film are always brimming with the potential for improvement, utter failure or just a big ol’ “Why did they even bother?” Reboots have a very uneven track record, but there is one thing nobody can deny. They keep coming and coming. Between franchise licensing and fresh adaptations of old material, it’s fair to ask if Hollywood is running out of ideas! But let’s be fair. Sometimes, remakes beat the pants off of the original product. The '80s horror masterpiece The Thing , for example, is a vast improvement over the '50s version. Then again, the first '60s film of The Planet of the Apes has never been topped by either of its franchise reboots (and the 2001 catastrophe is best forgotten entirely). Either way, just the chance that viewers might encounter an enhanced redo of a milestone property is enough to have us all constantly asking for more. T

Jaimie Alexander Campaigns to Get Chris Hardwick His Show Back

Image
Amid abuse allegations against Chris Hardwick by ex-girlfriend, Chloe Dykstra, Jaimie Alexander has joined others who have come out in defense of the Talking Dead host and Nerdist founder. Earlier this month , Chloe Dykstra posted an essay detailing the abuse she experienced during a three-year relationship with a moderately successful podcaster turned CEO of his own company. The internet community followed the connections and concluded the person Dykstra described was none other than the AMC's Talking Dead host, Chris Hardwick - and the response was swift. Nerdist removed all reference to its founder within hours of news breaking. In subsequent days, AMC and NBC (where Hardwick hosted The Wall ) released statements and suspended shows associated with the host. Hardwick was also removed from his hosting duties at the San Diego Comic-Con, which included the Doctor Who panel featuring the first female Doctor. Hardwick denied the claims of abuse in a statement released soon a

Simone Missick Explains What Luke Cage's Characters Would Think of Black Panther

Image
WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Luke Cage season 2. Luke Cage   actress Simone Missick, who plays Misty Knight on the Netflix series, has shared her thoughts on what some of the members of the cast would think about Black Panther . The Netflix Marvel TV shows are technically in the same universe as the big-screen adventures in the MCU, yet there hasn't really been any cross-pollination between the two. During Luke Cage season 2 , the Hulk is even referred to as " the big green monster ," not the Hulk, specifically. The characters of Luke Cage might not never meet King T'Challa, the Black Panther, and not just because of Avengers: Infinity War 's ending . However, if Marvel does ever decide to make the protector of Harlem and the king of Wakanda come face-to-face though, Simone Missick has the blueprint they should follow. Director Stefano Sollima makes his American film debut with Sicario: Day of the Soldado , the follow-up to 2015’s dark drug trafficking drama Sicario . This time around, two of the first movie’s three stars -- Josh Brolin as federal agent Matt Graver and Benicio del Toro as mysterious assassin Alejandro Gillick -- are back (Emily Blunt’s FBI agent is not) and attempting to start a war between two cartels by kidnapping the daughter of one cartel’s leader and making it seem like the other organization did the deed. But as you might imagine, things don’t quite go according to plan. While writer Taylor Sheridan has envisioned Sicario has ultimately being a trilogy, the first film’s director, Denis Villeneuve, was unable to return to the sequel due to prior commitments. Jim Carrey to Play Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog Film

Image
Matthew Byrd Jun 29, 2018 The legendary actor is in talks to play Sonic's most famous villain. Jim Carrey is reportedly in negotiations to play Eggman/Dr. Robotnik in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film adaptation.  In what has to be the most '90s story that you'll hear all day, Deadline is reporting that Carrey and his representatives are currently working with Paramount films executives in order to secure the villainous role. It doesn't seem that the deal has been finalized quite yet, but it appears that Carrey and Paramount are close to finishing the negotiation process. If the deal is finalized, then Carrey will join James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as the leads in this Jeff Fowler directed film. While Fowler doesn't have much experience as a feature film director (his only directorial credit thus far is the 2004 animated short, Gopher Broke ) the shockingly good cast that has assembled to bring Sonic to life on the big screen has some wondering just
